With current caretakers Roy and Dianne Trott vacating the role and hitting the road travelling again very soon, Council is ideally looking for people that have experience in previous caretaker management roles (however this is not essential for the position). If you have a positive, friendly attitude and a passion for the outdoors and dealing with people from all walks of life then you could be good fit for this role. Experience in basic admin and marketing, grounds maintenance and cleaning would be great however the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with Council staff is a key part of this role. The successful applicant will be provided with exclusive use of the caretaker house on-site at the Weir with all utilities paid for and they will be paid a set monthly management fee for their services. Applications for the Gogeldrie Weir Caretaker role will close on Friday, 23 May 2025. Motorists are being urged not to trust their tired selves as they take to the roads this Easter and ANZAC Day long weekends. With Easter and ANZAC Day falling in the school holidays this year, many people will be heading off to see family and friends over the holiday period. "Don't trust your tired self when setting off on a journey," said Leeton Shire Council Road Safety Officer, Stephanie Puntoriero. "Remember, fatigue-related crashes can happen on any trip no matter how long or short or what time of day. "It's important to think about how tired you are before driving, recognise the early warning signs when driving, and know what to do to avoid driving tired," she said.. The proposal to re-establish the Alcohol-Free Zones (AFZ) in Leeton and Yanco was on public exhibition during March 2025. Since no submissions or objections were received, Council wishes to advise the community that the AFZs have now been renewed. Signage will be updated in due course.
