COUNCIL REMINDER LEETON SHIRE COUNCIL PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICEBOARD GRANTS & FUNDING COUNCIL REMINDER DUMP FOR FREE RETURNS IN MARCH Saturday & Sunday, 15-16 March 2025 Council wishes to remind Leeton Shire residents of the upcoming 'Dump for Free' weekend. Saturday 15 March 2025 to Sunday 16 March 2025 8.00am 4.00pm Leeton Landfill & Recycling Centre and Whitton Transfer Station Residents who would like to take advantage of the free entry at the Leeton and Whitton facilities on the Dump for Free weekend can dispose of general domestic waste including garden rubbish, mixed recyclables and general waste. Please note a cap of two standard loads per household (a standard load is the equivalent of a ute/car and trailer combo, or just a ute or carload) applies. Asbestos will not be accepted over the Dump for Free weekend. Commercial waste, tyres and mattresses will not be accepted for free. This funding is available to support community groups and organisations in their endeavours to establish, strengthen and/or implement projects which will benefit the Leeton Shire community. Grants are capped at $2,000 each. Applications for this grant will close at 5pm on Tuesday, 30 April 2025. 'TIME TO SHINE' AT THE NSW SENIORS FESTIVAL 2025 3-16 March 2025 Don't miss our exciting line-up of free events and activities taking place until 16 March 2025 in celebration of NSW Seniors Festival 2025! Themed 'Time to shine', this year's events are held across the Leeton Shire Library, Leeton Indoor Stadium and Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre, inspiring seniors to be active, socialise, and share their skills and wisdom, all while connecting with the community. Library Supervisor, Rachel Cody, said the festival is an opportunity to showcase Council's extensive program of activities available to seniors. "The Library, Stadium and Pool are host to a range of recreational activities year-round including tai chi, croquet, aqua aerobics, chair yoga, knitting, crocheting and brain games. We encourage those interested to come along and try out the many activities on offer. "In addition, we are pleased to have a range of information sessions available to our senior citizens supported by local organisations such as My Aged Care, Leeton Community Health, Centrelink, NAB, U3A and Can Assist," she said.
