LEETON SHIRE COUNCIL NOTICEBOARD COUNCIL NEWS MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY MAYOR CR MICHAEL KIDD May 2025 As a Councillor, it has been incredibly rewarding to witness several key projects come to life, including the completion of Roxy Stage 1, Vance Estate Stage 3, a new and modern pound for companion animals, and the revitalisation of Chelmsford Town Square. Chelmsford Place is now the heart that unites our community, finally bringing to life Burley Griffin's vision for a central town square. It seamlessly connects Leeton's iconic art deco landmarks - the Roxy Theatre, the Hydro, and the Leeton Museum and Art Gallery (LMAG) - creating a welcoming, accessible public space for everyone to enjoy. It has been wonderful to see the community embrace Chelmsford Town Square, whether it's families enjoying some downtime, the vibrancy of Fiesta La Leeton, or those reflecting on the sacrifice and service of our servicemen and women through the evocative projection art on the water towers for ANZAC Day. I was deeply honoured to stand in for the Mayor at the ANZAC Day services across the Shire. Each year, it's heartening see growing numbers. not just in Leeton but also in Yanco and Whitton. Congratulations to the RSL sub-branch and the many volunteers who made these services such a respectful commemoration of those who have given so much for us all. It was also a privilege to accompany Mr Peter Kenyon to public meetings in Yanco and Whitton. The enthusiasm among residents to rejuvenate and breathe new life into their communities was palpable. Council is committed to supporting them on this exciting journey. It's Council budget and programming time again. We are dedicated to providing the best services and facilities possible, even in challenging times. Your feedback is invaluable to us.
