McQuillan Road Work area REDUCED SPEED LIMIT AND FOOTPATH CLOSURE Irrigation Way (Yanco Avenue) / McQuillan Road Notice is hereby given for works undertaken by Council on behalf of Transport for NSW to relocate the McQuillan Road cycle path near Irrigation Way/Yanco Avenue. ::: Location: Irrigation Way (Yanco Avenue), north of the McQuillan Road intersection Duration: Work will start on Monday 24 March and will take two weeks to complete, weather permitting. Working hours are between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Motorists and pedestrians may notice workers and vehicles, traffic controllers and signage, reduced speed limit to 40 km/h, footpath closures, pedestrian and cyclist detours and noise from machinery and equipment. Reason: Council on behalf of Transport for NSW is relocating the McQuillan Road cycle path crossing over Yanco Avenue at Leeton to improve safety for road and active transport users. To achieve this, Council will be extending the path on the western side of Irrigation Way for an additional 120 metres to the new cross- over point. Council apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates your cooperation. We strive to ensure the work is undertaken as safe and efficiently as possible with minimum disruption to all concerned. ALCOHOL FREE ZONE umption of alcohol in d by Leeton Shire RENEWAL OF ALCOHOL-FREE ZONES IN LEETON AND YANCO Submissions close Tuesday, 1 April 2025 The Leeton Shire community is encouraged to provide feedback on the re-establishment of Alcohol-Free Zones (AFZs) in Leeton and Yanco for four (4) years, with the current AFZS set to expire on 1 April 2025. Located primarily in the Leeton CBD and main streets of Yanco, these zones were established with the goal of addressing issues of unacceptable street drinking, enhancing community safety and improving public amenity. The community is invited to make a submission including on the effectiveness of the current AFZs, the ongoing need for the zones in the existing locations and any additional areas that should be included. The community is encouraged to provide feedback to Council in any of the following ways: Completing the survey on Council's 'Have Your Say' online engagement portal at haveyoursay.leeton.nsw.gov.au; Sending your feedback via email to council@leeton.nsw.gov.au; Posting a letter to the General Manager, Leeton Shire Council, 23-25 Chelmsford Place, Leeton NSW 2705 Submissions must be received in writing by no later than 5pm, Tuesday, 1 April 2025. KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEASH IN PUBLIC PLACES Your Responsibilities as a Pet Owner Dogs are big part of peoples' lives and it's important to remember your responsibilities as a pet owner so everyone can enjoy our parks and open spaces. Under the Companion Animals Act 1998, dogs. must be kept on a leash in all public places. This means when you are outside your home, including on the footpath, your dog must be on a leash - except in the designated off-leash park on Brobenah Road, Leeton, and in Yanco. Keeping your dog on a leash helps keep your dog safe from running onto the road or being separated from you. It also reduces the chance. of your dog potentially causing a nuisance or harm to other people or animals. An on-the-spot penalty of $330 can apply for dogs not being on a lead and not being controlled.
