COUNCIL NEWS LEETON SHIRE COUNCIL COUNCIL REMINDER NOTICEBOARD COUNCIL REMINDER COUNCIL REMINDER SAVE THE DATE: FIESTA LA LEETON RETURNS IN 2027 Saturday, 10 April 2027 Leeton Shire Council invites the community to save the date for the return of Fiesta La Leeton on Saturday, 10 April 2027. This follows the decision not to hold it in 2026, allowing Council to secure funding and ensure the festival can be delivered at the high standard the community has come to expect. It also provides greater capacity for local community groups, volunteers and event organisers, following the success of the recent Leeton SunRice Festival, to fully participate and contribute to the success of the event. With its inception in 2023, Fiesta La Leeton remains a much-loved celebration of Leeton Shire's rich multicultural character, bringing together food, music and traditions from across the community. Mayor Cr George Weston said the event continues to be a highlight of Leeton's annual calendar. "Fiesta La Leeton is a vibrant celebration of the many different cultures that shape our community and an event that brings people together in a truly unique way. We're committed to ensuring it returns in 2027 as a strong and successful event for our community and visitors to enjoy," said Cr Weston. COMMUNITY INVITED TO SHARE A COFFEE WITH A COP Thursday, 30 April 2026 Residents of Leeton Shire are invited to stop in at The Coffee Tree for a free coffee (or drink of choice) with local highway patrol officers. Council's Road Safety Officer Ashlee Hayllar said "Coffee with a Cop" is an international initiative which aims to break down barriers between police and the local community. "We will have members of the Southwest Traffic & Highway Patrol Command present to answer any questions you have and discuss local road safety concerns, over a casual cup of tea or coffee," she said. Coffee with a Cop will run on Thursday, 30 April 2026, from 9am to 11am at The Coffee Tree Café, located at 101 Pine Ave, Leeton. The event is co-hosted by Leeton Shire Council and NSW Police Force. The projection art will also be on show on Anzac Day, 25 April 2026, from 5am to 7.15am, providing a moving backdrop for the dawn service.
