This year's theme, 'Live life in colour', encourages seniors to embrace new experiences, stay active and celebrate both lifelong achievements and the adventures still to come. A highlight of the local program is the Leeton Seniors Expo, hosted by the Leeton Shire Library, on Thursday 5 March 2026 from 10am at the Leeton Uniting Church. With the theme 'Learning, Living, Connecting', the expo will bring together local support and aged care services, offering valuable information and resources to help seniors stay informed and empowered. The Leeton Roxy Community Theatre will also present a special Seniors Festival performance of "Growing Old Ungracefully" on Wednesday 11 March 2026 at 10.30am. Performed by acclaimed entertainer David Scheel, Growing Old Ungracefully delivers witty and sophisticated comedy exploring the realities of ageing, from health and modern life to the quirks and challenges that come with growing older. DUMP FOR FREE RETURNS IN MARCH Saturday & Sunday, 21 - 22 March 2026 Council is pleased to announce it will be running another 'Dump for Free' weekend in March for Leeton Shire residents. Details are as follows: Saturday 21 March 2026 to Sunday 22 March 2026 8.00am - 4.00pm Leeton Landfill & Recycling Centre and Whitton Transfer Station Residents who would like to take advantage of the free entry at the Leeton and Whitton facilities on the Dump for Free weekend can dispose of general domestic waste including garden rubbish, mixed recyclables and general waste. Please note a cap of two standard loads per household (a standard load is the equivalent of a ute/car and trailer combo, or just a ute or carload) applies. Asbestos will not be accepted over the Dump for Free weekend. Commercial waste, tyres and mattresses will not be accepted for free. CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CENTRE- BASED CHILDCARE CENTRE DA 123/2025 Council is in receipt of a Development Application for the construction of a new centre- based childcare centre (preschool) at Lot 1, DP 1135132, 138 Cherry Avenue, Leeton NSW 2705. Any community members who may be affected by the development proposal are invited to provide comment. Any submissions received within the notification period will be considered when Council determines the application. All submissions should be in writing and clearly state the reasons or grounds for your support or objection to the proposal.
