COUNCIL NEWS G G G LEETON SHIRE COUNCIL G G GET INVOLVED NOTICEBOARD COUNCIL REMINDER COUNCIL EVENTS COUNCILLORS RECOGNISED WITH LGNSW SERVICE AWARDS Councillors Weston, Kidd and Morris Leeton Shire Council is proud to announce that three of its long-serving councillors have been honoured with Local Government NSW (LGNSW) Service Awards at the LGNSW Annual Conference Dinner on 24 November 2025. Mayor Cr George Weston received a 30-year service award, Deputy Mayor Cr Michael Kidd received a 15-year service award and Cr Tracey Morris received a 10-year service award. The awards recognise their sustained commitment to the elected local government and the contribution councillors make to their communities over many years of service. General Manager Jackie Kruger congratulated the councillors on behalf of the organisation and the broader Leeton Shire community. "On behalf of Council staff and the community we serve, I extend warm congratulations to Councillors Weston, Kidd and Morris on these well-deserved Service Awards. Their dedication, professionalism and long-term commitment to Leeton Shire are recognised not only through these milestones, but in the positive impact they continue to make for residents, local businesses and community groups. The categories for the 2026 Australia Day Awards are: > Citizen of the Year Young Citizen of the Year Lifelong Citizen of the Shire Achiever of the Year Young Achiever of the Year Group/Organisation/Event of the Year Sportsperson of the Year Junior Sportsperson of the Year Nominating is simple and can be done online at https://bit.ly/LSCAusDay2026 or by completing a hard copy paper form which is available upon request from the Council Main Office, Library or from the Leeton Visitor Information Centre. Leeton Shire Council is conducting a free microchipping day for dogs and cats at the Leeton Shire Council Pound on Wednesday 17 December 2025, between 1pm and 4pm. Council's free microchipping day is being held to encourage responsible pet ownership. Council wishes to remind residents of the importance of keeping your contact details up to date, which can be done through the Pet Registry website at www.petregistry.nsw. gov.au, so that if you move to a new house or change your phone number you will still be contactable in the event of your pet becoming lost. Dog and cat owners need to arrange an appointment time for the microchipping day and complete the relevant form/s at the Leeton Shire Council office located at 23-25 Chelmsford Place prior to 17 December 2025.
