Our focus on the High Potential and Gifted Education into the workforce. policy has broadened our perspective on the many ways students can demonstrate their talent and potertial. We are working hard to explore additional ways in which we can enrich our students to be their best and we are discovering many new resources to assist this developoment as well. Science and ideation, Engineering Challenge, Mathematics, Art and Poetry and Cartography, Code Breaking and Legacy. Engineering and Mathematics. Leeton High School participates in the STEM Industry School Partnerships Program which want to contribute positively to our schooll allows us to access the very best professional learning for our statt, cutting edge resources and opportunities to engage with other schools for collaboraton and competition. 2021 will be an exoiting year for us in this arena date. which is credit to all our students who An Induction Assembly and a moming tea were held with parents and carers in attendance to mark this very special occasion. Our 2021 student leadership team are an exceptional bunch of students. Congratulations to our Prefects and Student Representative Counci for their purposetul leadership and the beginnings of an amazing 2021. Maths Pathway is an exciting personalised learning program employed across Years 7-9 in 2021. We were very excited with the growth shown by Year 7 last year that we have expanded this program for 2021. Students follow a personalised learning pathway which identifies gaps in learning to strengthen the knowledge base for greater success as students move through the Mathematics curriculum. International Women's Day International Women's Day theme, chose to challenge themselves by volunteering to share their experiences as young women with the audience in attendance at the Leeton Library on Whyatt (Year 91, Sabrina Maimone ((Year 10). Roxy McAliece (Year 11). Jess E Alison Moller (Year 1 were a credit tn our school. I heun for this group. Their speeches touched hearts and made us al think about the past, present and future and what equality is and stands for. Our musicians, Lily Davies and Meghan Davidson-Curtin (Year 11) also supported this event and showcased their talents much to the delight of the audience. Well done ladies! We are so very proud of you. Loeton High School also celebrated this important occasion with an assembly hosted by our School Captains, Vice-Captains, Prefects and Girts Advisor Mes O'Convel. Students went on to complete a refective activity on what aspect of their ife they would now choose to chalenge. Monday 8March, Heidi I have been inundated with praise The NSW Department of Education has provided schools with additional funding to support students' learning who may have been atfected by COVID-19. Fortunately, we have been able to organise additional Literacy and Numeracy small group tutorials to support our students with their learning. Currently, we have approximately 60 students taking advantage of this excellent opportunity to get some extra assistance from our expert teachers. The tutorials are open to any student in Years 7-12. Sporting Success This term we have an incredible number of students who have excelled in a vaniety of sports to quality to represent the Riverina at state level. We currently have 36 Riverina representatives who will participate in a variety of sports Including swimming, basketbal, rugby league and netball at upcoming NSW CHS carnivals. Congratulations to all competitors on this amazing achievement. This term, the school has delivered intensive iteracy support classes across Years 7-9, facilitated by our English teachers, to provide smal group interventions for shudents w making a n program has been very successful with some students We have continued to build the profle of our altenate pathway programa. Hands on Learning provides opportunities for students who like to lean outside the classroom by exploring their more creative side, with the focus stit being on improving iteracy and numeracy outcomes. Our two Hands on Learning groups are building their skils and knowledge by tackling incredibly diverse projects around our school and in our community. Students are curently working on stage props for our upcoming musical Shrekt which will open at the end of next term. Our LHS Leaming Links program is going from strength to strength with two full groups running each week. This program supports the dovelopment of positive relationships, stronger connections with school and community and opportunities to gain workforce experience through our partnerships with generous local businesses and organisations. Year 7 Camp Year 7 have returmed safe and sound from a fabulous three days in picturesque Laurel Hi. While the weather could have been better, students stil enjoyed many activities and got to learn more about each other as a group. Thank you to Mr. Crosbie and Ms. Byme for e organising this great experience and to al staff members who accompanied students away. Our students were awesomel Creative and Performing Arts at Leeton High School Our amazing students and teachers have been working very hard this term to put together another memorable extravaganza - Shrek -The Musical Keep an eye of for ticket information and don't miss out Shrek - the Musical will be opening at the end of His great to see students embracing different opportunites to make the most of their learning time at school. Our senior students have participated in two excursiors this term to familiarise themselves with what is on offer at some universites. Great times were had at both Wollongong University and Charles Sturt University to support students in the next phase of their education. Likewise, our WIN Work Readiness program has delivered some amaning opportunities to our students to gain their White Card, to understand WHS requirements and processes, to participate resume writing workshops, in mock next tem. Likewise, Leeton High School has been hosting rehearsals for Henry V, the Shakespearean masterpiece which will be performed for our community in April. Well done to all cast and crew for a huge effort and what will be an outstanding premier of local talents.
