Leeton High School 2020 HS OUI NON PROFICIT) Leeton High School continues to promote its chosen values of being respectful, responsible, learners as a Positive Behaviour for Learning School. Becoming a Positive Behaviour for Learning school means a long term investment in creating and promoting the most healthy environment for learning and wellbeing. DEFICIT RESPECTFUL RESPONSIBLE LEARNERS Term 3 has seen a somewhat 'normal" return to school operations which has been a welcome relilet. Students have adapted well to being back at school and have shown a real excitement to return to their leaming onsite. Students have been able to re-engage with the wide variety of opportunities and alternate leaming experiences on offer at Leeton High School. We look forward to Term 4 to continue to build on what we've achieved this year so far. have been recently elected by their peers and teachers. Our now School Captains are Petra Toia and Angus Crelley, Vice-Captains Brooke Eglinton and Lewis Cain-MoAliece and Prefects Emily Wright, Emma Wallet and Nathan Balch. This is a very impressive group of young leaders who will undoubtediy make a positive impact in their new roles. Our Student Representative Council (SRC) continue to be a vocal and proactive group of young people who work very diligently to highlight areas of need within our school. And community. This great team works tirelessly to raise money to help others within our community and further afield. Leeton High School supports and acknowledges occasions such as RU OK? Day to raise money to support mental health awareness. Learning Students at Leeton High School have access to many unique and diverse opportunities to expand the way in which they learn. This term we celebrated Science Week 2020 with a week fullof exciting experiments and awesome activities for the whole school to participate it. Our Coding Club worked with other schools remotely in the Riverina Inter-School Coding Champlonships to develop their skills and understanding of science and technology. Students participating in our Hands on Leaming program worked with local primary students to complete and then donate wooden bench sets to enjoy let's not forget the completion of the much anticipated pizza oven which has already cooked up some beautiful pizzas for students and staff. These products were made by hand allowing our students to learn many new skills along the way. Careers Leeton High School continues to be the lighthouse school in the region supporting our students and other schools to access hands on information regarding post school career options and opportunities. We offer premier experiences not only to our own students but to the students within the Western Riverina via our acclaimed Careers Expo. We are currently in the planning stage for such an event to run again in 2021. We have been able to offer work experience opportunities to our students in keeping with current school guidelines through our work ready programs such as the WIN program. Thank you to our generous community for providing opportunities for our students in O. emearning ands the work place. Other programs operational at Leeton High School are our LHS Learning Links intiative connecting students with our community through different projects which focus on our values of being respectul, responsible, leaners. We take great pride in giving back to our great community through our programs and donations. RUOK We have also engaged the support of the COMPACT organisation from Wagga to work with our Stage 4 and S girls to empower them to be reslient young women. Our Boys Cutural Program has been an outstanding program addition and provides an insight into Aboriginal identity and culture and an opportunity to learn with Mr. Wiliam Ingram who leads our group of young men. Thank you to Leeton Shire Council for supporting this beneficial experience for our students. Wellbeing Our school places a major focus on supporting student welbeing Each year has rogular meeting times with their Year Adviser and other key support wellbeing stat. Our Positive Behaviour for Leaming (PBL) lessons also focus on topical issues to support students and staft Leadership This term, we tarewelled our outgoing student leaders for 2020. I would sincerely like to thank our outstanding School Captains, Bree McKellar and Reece Grundy, for their consistent and dependable leadership during a very unique and challenging year, along with Vice Captains Amele Sachs and Zachary Sharp who performed their duties to an impeccable standard. We also farewelled our Michael Wang, Cooper Holmes, Jesse Horsfield and Barkat Ali for their support as Prefects during 2020. We wish these students and all of Year 12 the to share in a positive and respectful school environment for greater wellbeing. We have a growing Wellbeing Team with Tracey Byme as Head Teacher, Patrick Hubatka as our Student Welfare Teacher, Jannette Dundon our Student Support Officer and Joey Longford our Special Programs Support Officer.
