Gralee Newsletter Term 1 Weeks 4-8 - Welcome Dinner, swimming program commences, Harmony Day and our SRC In Week 4 we had our Welcome Dinner, with 50 people attending. Our staff and P&C catered the event which was a great opportunity for new and old families to meet the new staff and each other. Our 2-week intensive swimming program commenced for senior students; Whitton Pool was a great place that catered for our needs, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We also started our Griffith Pool program for our Junior students and our Hydrotherapy students on a fortnightly rotational basis. In Week 8 we celebrated Harmony Day by sharing letters with 'The Ponds School' in Sydney. It is a much larger school; with 19 classes, so we were very lucky to receive a letter for each of our 19 students from a whole class. Our students enjoyed making new friends and learning about a different school. We hope to visit The Ponds School in the near future. Weeks 1-3 - New teachers, new students and a new uniform. Term 1 has certainly been the "Term of Change'. It started with a lot of face changes; 5 new students, 3 new teachers and 2 new SLSO's. It has been fun learning about these new people and the classes settled into learning early in the term. Pieper received her Senior Uniform as our only Year 12 student this year and we think she rocks her polo shirt and jacket! Pieper and Connor are our school captains this year. Our P&C finally received our new uniform, and distributed a P&C Pack to every student in the school. We have had a lot of community members comment that they love the colours, and we do too! PIEPER 20 We inducted our SRC for 2020, and our students look forward to getting together to organise fundraisers in the future. Weeks 9-11 - COVID-19 and learning at home. A lot has changed since the beginning of the term. We are now all learning at home and our parents are doing the best job they can to help with our learning. Our staff are still at school, learning new things themselves, and supporting us via phone and computer. All of us are coping with the changes in different ways. We don't know what lies ahead exactly but we know that as a community, Gralee School will stick together - Today for Tomorrow".
