Yanco Public School Celebrates Every Learner: PUBLIC EDUCATION WEEK 2025 IGNITE YOUR POTENTIAL YANCO PUBLIC SCHOOL G TOWARDS I BETTER WORLD This year's Education Week theme, "Ignite Your Potential," will be brought to life at Yanco Public School through a fun afternoon of inclusive, engaging and joyful experiences that reflect the diversity and strength of our learning community. From our newest Kindergarten students to our senior learners, every student has the opportunity to explore, create and connect through a wide range of activities designed to celebrate learning in all its forms. Wellbeing First Supporting the wellbeing of our students is always a priority, and Yanco Public School features a variety of wellbeing-focused activities including mindfulness, brain breaks, The Resilience Project and opportunities for peer connection. The Resilience Project As part of our commitment to student wellbeing, Yanco Public School continues to implement The Resilience Project, focusing on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM). Through engaging classroom lessons and daily reflections, students are developing emotional literacy, resilience, and positive relationships. Interest-Based Activities Our 'Feel Good Friday' interest-based learning sessions give students the opportunity to explore their passions and strengths. From gardening and STEM to art, music and coding, these hands-on activities encourage creativity, independence, and student voice. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Reward Days To celebrate positive behaviour and effort, students participate in PBL Reward Days each term. These fun and engaging events recognise students who consistently follow our school expectations and contribute positively to our school community. These activities have been designed to strengthen friendships, build resilience, and promote a positive school culture. Yanco Public School continues to embed our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) values across all areas of school life. Spotlight on Creativity The Creative Arts are always celebrated with colour and flair! Students express themselves through visual art, music and performances. The enthusiasm and talent on display is a wonderful reminder of the power of creativity in learning. Supporting Every Student - Extension and Support Programs Yanco Public School takes pride in delivering targeted support and extension programs to meet the needs of every learner. Whether students are receiving extra support to boost confidence or working in small groups to extend their thinking, our staff are dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive. This year, the introduction of smaller class structures has allowed for even more individualised learning and meaningful teacher-student connections. Welcoming Future Learners - Kinder Transition Our Kindergarten Transition Program is kicking off with two half days in September and concluding with three full days during Term 4. This program is designed to give the Class of 2026 a warm and positive introduction to school life. Students will enjoy classroom visits, interactive story time, and play-based activities to help them feel confident and excited about starting school next year. Their teacher, Miss Jeffs is extremely excited to be meeting everyone soon! Held weekly on school grounds, the playgroup supports early social skills, school readiness, and builds a strong sense of community. Everyone is welcome - come along and join the fun! Thursdays from 9.15 - to 11am. Education Week 2025 at Yanco Public School is a wonderful celebration of learning, growth and community. Yanco Public School's Little Learners Playgroup will commence on Thursday, 8th May 2025. Due to recent changes in Dept of Education regulations regarding supervision of such programs, Little Learners will now operate with a playgroup structure with sessions running from 9:15-11am on Thursdays. The Little Learners Program is run by a trained childcare educator (Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care). There will be a welcome morning tea on the first day of Little Learners for 2025 (held each Thursday morning during school terms in 2025).
