ST. FRANCIS +** VIRTUTE ET CONSTANTIA Standout achievements and highlights for students in 2025 Throughout 2025, students at St Francis de Sales Regional College achieved success across a wide range of academic, cultural, sporting and community domains. Many students demonstrated significant academic growth in a range of internal and external assessments. Our sporting teams continued to perform with excellence. Through participation in our school carnivals, BISSA, NSWCCC & All Schools level. So many teams & individual students who have given their absolute best - a few highlights include - Junior & Senior Girls & Boys Aussie Rules teams competed at the Junior and Senior State Finals; our Bill Turner Soccer boys made it to Round 4; our Yr 7/8 Boys Basketball teams had a wildcard for NSWCCC basketball & finished 5th; medals at NSWCCC Athletics, Swimming & Cross Country. Lucy Gilmour of Year 9 had an outstanding year in MultiClass events across Athletics & Cross Country - achieving Gold at the School Sport Australia Cross Country. This led to Lucy receiving a NSWCCC Blue award for Cross Country. We saw exceptional creativity and collaboration in our performing arts, music and visual arts programs. Congratulations to Jessica Draper, Jett Horton and Rachael Baxter for their nominations for SHAPE (Industrial Technology - Multimedia). A number of students also represented the College in regional and statewide competitions, bringing pride and positive recognition to our school community. Development of academic, extracurricular and pastoral programs This year, the College continued to refine and expand its academic programs with a focus on improving student writing, creating engaging 'thinking classrooms' in Mathematics and working towards Universal Design for Assessment. Staff worked collaboratively to strengthen teaching practice, planning towards the implementation of NSW Curriculum reform and ensuring students were challenged and supported at all stages of their learning. St Francis College has remained at the forefront of NESA Curriculum Reform through its participation in a NESA pilot program, developing an innovative, highly engaging, and student-directed subject for Stage 5 students. Our pastoral care program has also made significant progress towards the implementation of Positive Behaviours for Learning, which will continue to be introduced throughout 2026 with the development of a rewards and acknowledgement system. These initiatives contributed to a more inclusive, supportive and goal orientated school environment. 2025 has been a significant and foundational year for St Francis as we prepared for the full implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) in 2026. PBL is a whole school approach that strengthens wellbeing, promotes consistency, and supports high expectations for learning and personal growth. Throughout the year, we worked closely with students, staff, and families to ensure our PBL framework reflects the values and identity of our College. This consultation led to the clear identification of our core values - Faith, Respect, Integrity and Persistence and the development of shared expectations for how these values are lived out across the school. Key achievements in 2025 included defining our values in practice, identifying key school environments, developing a comprehensive behaviour matrix, beginning lesson design, and gathering student feedback to inform a meaningful rewards system. Looking ahead to 2026, PBL will be launched through structured lessons. A system for recognising positive behaviour will be introduced, alongside a student informed rewards program. As we move into 2026, we are excited to bring this important initiative to life and continue building a respectful, safe, and thriving learning environment for every student at St Francis.
