ST FRANCIS LEETON, TERM 3 NEWSLETTER Welcome to our Newsletter! We started the Term with face-to-face teaching of our students as all schools in the region and ended up with online learning trom Monday 16 August. We must remain vigilant and steadfast and careful. MULLET FOR MENTAL HEALTH St Francis has participated in the Mullet Month in September for the Black Dog Institute. "Your mullet will help us drive real change through ground-breaking research into the earty detection prevention and treatment of common mental health disorders, "says organisers of the Black Dog Institute. The students were treated to sampling the Lunch Menu. Attended a lecture from the Business Manager, Sous Chef, Event & Retail Managers. This hour information session was extremely invaluable to understand the business onsite and the Hospitality, Tourism and Accommodation sectors showcased by this young and growing enterprise. The fundraiser finished on Friday September 10. Donations have been made to individual team members or to the team generally as a sponsor. All team member donations contribute to the whole school team tally. Our thanks to all who support this event. The girls played against Deniliquin High, Kildare and Xavier Albury. The team should be commended on their commitment to the day. Best players for the day were Clancy Ryan, Summer Carlon, Emily Baulch, Georgie Tooth and Kiara Pham. Year 12 2021 Trial HSC examinations were held from 2 to 13 August inclusive. Congratulations to former student, Miss Aman Kang who graduated from St Francis in 2012. In 2013, Aman began her studies at the University of Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Arts, followed by First Class Honours in Archaeology. Whilst completing her studies in Sydney. Aman was President of the Sydney University Archaeology Society, and in 2018 was Chairman of the National Archaeology Student Conference. She then moved to Canberra to complete her Masters of Archaeological and Year 9 2022 Subject Information Night was also cancelled owing to COVID restrictions and therefore Mrs Lisa Ryan (Leader of Curriculum) again launched a website containing videos from relevant KLA Leaders to help assist students who are currently in Year 8 to select the right subject to study. This night is a valuable opportunity for HSC students to present his/her major works to a live audience even though it was limited. Student performances were recorded so parents can view their child's progress on their Major Works in Music and Drama. ZOOM Parent/Teacher Meetings were held in July for Years 7-10. The Zoom meetings proved to be the popular option for parents. Athough some parents took the opportunity to make face-to-face The Sisters of St Joseph officially became a part of the staff at St Francis in 1972, working alongside the Marist Brothers. When the Marists withdrew in 1983, the Josephite Sisters became responsible for the Principalship and governance of the College until 2004. Musica Viva 2021 was online on Monday 13 September, students in Year 7 and 8 viewed this performance by the band, Doctor Stovepipe. Each year at St Francis, welcomes a Musica Viva group to perform at the school and students study the musical material presented in the concerts prior to the concert. Same format took place online. St Francis has been announced the winner of the H20 Heroes competiion thanks to the SRC initiative by entering the H20 HEROES Program which is focused on giting drinking water stations through competitions. The SRC requested that boarders have their daily drinking bottes replaced with the Schools reusable drinking bottles which has been impiemented. All new Year 7 students are automatically issued with a reusable bottle and other year levels are doing the same by ether bringing their own water bottle or obtaining a school's reusable water bottle.
