ST FRANCIS TERM 2 NEWSLETTER Students who sign up for FRU display a courage and confidence that needs to be recognized. By now each student has been through work ready training, a formal mock interview and have met and contacted their employers. Most of the students are now working in the real world for 2 whole weeks We were very proud of the manner with which our students attended the various Services across their Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday. The guest speaker was a former SFC student, Mrs Heidi Papatodori (nee Kent). She spoke passionately about her 20 years of service and gave great details of the humanitarian work she and her colleagues did following the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004. This tragedy took the ives of some 230,000 people. We are truly thankful for Heidi's service and for teaching us all that the Ironbark seats which have been smoothed and will be lacquered and the SFC GIRLS AFL | RVERINA AFL. CHAMPIONS The St Francis Open Girls AFL team were crowned Riverina AFL Champions following the MIA Gala Day at Griffith in cold placement of the firepit. An OFFICIAL FAREWELL was held early this term for two long serving members of the Colege Staff - Mrs Betty Aliendi retiring after 25 years of dedicated service as part of the College Cleaning Team, many of those as the Team Leader, and Mrs Vicki Aylett for her 14 years of dedicated service as a member of the Inclusive & Diverse Leaning AUSTRALIA'S BIGGEST MORNING TEA was hekd at the ARC Centre on Thursday June 10. Year 12 students and statf attended the Annual SFC Biggest Morning Tea in support of the Cancer Council, All funds from the donation made by staff and Year 12 as they enjoyed beautiful food together, will be distributed to local CanAssist teams. Goal Kickers were Abby Thomas 5, Jen Sandral 3, Charlotte Rainbird 3, Chloe Matthews 2, Marmie Grintel 3, Janiana Ravu 2 & Grace Tooth 2 Team. We welcomed Claudia and Claudia from the UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA during the Term to present to our students what they have to offer. Including all their early entry programs. Canberra has introduced a new early entry program which is open now. Relevant students need to apply directly to the university and have UC preferences on your UAC list. Closes July 25th. NAPLAN was held between 11-21 May 2021 with Year 7 and Year 9 students taking part in the National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). All of the NAPLAN tasks were delivered online. AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL UNDER 15 NSW CCC TRIALS BOYS AND GIRLS. Congratulations to Imogen Bonny, Emly Baulch, Timeeka Coleman, John Ryan, Matthew Chant and Shannon Lehman who were selected in the NSw CCC Australan Rules boys and girts Under 15 teams to take on CHS and CIS in Albury in late May. CONGRATULATIONS TO FATHER TONY OBOSHI on being appointed as Administrator of the Catholic Parish at Ganmain. Fr Tony will remain as the College Chaplain. YEAR 12 RETREAT The Year 12 annual Retreat to Harrietville is always a highlight on our College calendar. Our students really enjoyed their time in this beautiful part of the world during this Term. Of course, COVID restrictions in 2020 prevented this occurring last year. The remarkable work and talent of our students and staff were on display at SHOWCASE 2021. This is so much more than a display or a performance. The guests who attended would attest to the fact that there was great learning for our students as a result of wonderful teaching and mentoring. THE SENIOR PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS were held on Tuesday 18 May. Parents were happy to continue with ZOOM interviews. VET STUDENTS have been on work placement for a week (35 hours) this term. The students have been out in hospitality, construction, and manufacturing and engineering industries. Compact is our partner who organises this placement and St Francis. Our thanks to the employers in the district who host our students. This is a compulsory NESA requirement and is invaluable industry experience for our students. A set of WATER COLOURS have been placed on Display in Room A near the Health Centre. These pieces were created by the very talented Georgina Murphie of Year 11. WEEK OF WELL-BEING | WOW commenced Monday 31 May for the week with many activities, being Mindful Monday, Turn it Off Showcase 2021 is about the joy of performance. Congratulations to the CARTS statt for their dedication, professionalism and teamwork Term 3 commences Monday 12th July Students as part of the FUTURES R US Program enjoyed participating in work experience during this term.
