RECORDS BROKEN ONTHE DAY Madeline Luff - 14 Girls 50m Freestyle 3185 (previous record 32.10 set in 19761) Archie Forwood - 14 Boys 100m Freestyle 1:03.85 (previous record 1:06.48) Archie Forwood - 14 Boys 50m Freestyle 28.60 (previous record 28.90) Eli Cashmere - 17+ Boys 50m Freestyle 2742 (previous record 27.43) FIFTY-NINE YEAR 12 STUDENTS had the opportunity to travel to the University of Wollongong for their Discovery Days. Mrs Wood, Mr Greatz and Miss Drew accompanied the students for their two nights away. Students registered into workshops of their choice and were a UNI STUDENT for a day. The students were amazed at the facilities and the size of the University. all other Year 11 and 12 students. The formal badging of the leaders followed a beautiful service, where our College Chaplain Fr Tony Oboshi urged all our students to be the best versions of themselves possible. In fact, to love themselves! Not in any narcissistic manner obviously; rather, he urged them to be confident moving forward, to strive for excellence and to continue to set positive example. A huge welcome to another year of faith, learning and community at St Francis College Leeton. 2021 marks the College's 65" year. From humble beginnings in 1956, the College has grown into a vibrant, successful and contemporary campus. We continue to strive to meet our vision and mission; to serve the rural communities in and around the Murrumbidgee Irigation Area. Our Marist and Josephite heritage are to be celebrated and treasured. We will be held in good stead, if we cling to the example of our founders. ASH WEDNESDAY Students gathered for Ash Wednesday to mark the beginning of Lent. Ash Wednesday falls 46 days before Easter. Since Easter falls on a different date each year, Ash Wednesday does too. Owing to COVID restrictions no ashes were placed on the forehead of each student. This year the Ashes were sprinkled over the whole school community. Year 11 Hospitality students catered for and served at the Leaders Induction Mass Morning Tea. The menu included hot finger food, scones and slices with the involvement of the Year 10 Food Tech YEAR 8 STUDENTS had the great opportunity to participate in the Taiko Drumming Workshop organised by Miss Elyse North, CA Leader. We welcomed 142 Year 7 students to the Community this year. Class. Hot and cold beverages were also served to all guests. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2020, They have endured an HSC like no other and they did so with maturity and a true sense of community. SWIMMING CARNIVAL The Annual Swimming Carnival was held on Friday 19 February with a changed format due to COVID restrictions. The carnival was held in the day not a twilight one. Parentsicarers were excluded in attending. Despite this change it was again a triumph. Beautiful weather, outstanding student and staff participation and a simply magnificent new pool facility proved to be a winning combination. wow (WEEK OF WELLBEING) Week is an initiative of the Year 12 Student Leaders. resulting from the 20OM Meeting with the Marist Youth Ministry in Term 4 2020. WOW MERIT LIST - Students achieving a Band 6 Subject Mark over 90. week of welbeing Salvatore Aloisi, Luke Argus, Zavier Cadorin, Hannah Clarke, Mitchell Cooper, Jye Doyle, Abby Favell, Luke Fiumara, Samuel Flood, Gabrielle Forrest, Bryn Francis, Laura lannelli, Vitalis Ihuarulam, Jake Jewell, Laura Johnstone, Hannah O'Dwyer. Giordan Pastro, Harrison Rudd, Mark Tyson & Imogen Wilkes-Bowes. After presenting their proposal to the College Executive and then to the Teaching staff, WOW was born! TENISON again cemented their spot as the team to beat in the pool after claiming their second consecutive SFC Swimming Carnivai Titlel The concept of WOw Week will be held in Week 7 of each term and each day of the week will have a dedicated theme, such as MINDFUL Monday. TURNT IT OFF Tuesday, WORKOUT Wednesday, THOUGHTFUL Thursday and FEEL GOOD Friday in Term 1.
