YEAR IN REVIEW YANCO PUBLIC SCHOOL SCHOOL LEADERSHIP Our captains, Taya Stanton and Benji McWhinnie, attended the Leadership Conference in Sydney, where they gained valuable skills in teamwork, decision-making, and leadership. Their efforts have had a positive impact on the school, as they worked with staff to improve student experiences. EXCURSIONS This year, students enjoyed a variety of excursions. Stage 3 visited Sydney, exploring landmarks and attending the Royal Easter Show, while Stage 2 had a fun-filled trip to Borambola, focusing on teamwork and resilience. A group of award-winning students also visited the Albury Recycling Centre, learning about sustainability. Kinder and Year 6 shared a joyful day at the Gralee Colour Run. LEARNING AT YANCO Our school placed a strong emphasis on learning support, with programs like MacLit, MultiLit, MiniLit, and CSUS Maths helping students thrive. Competitions were also a highlight, with students excelling in short story writing. Selected Stage 3 students attended a Performing Arts Camp in Murrumbateman, where they explored music and drama, showcasing their creativity. WELLBEING Wellbeing initiatives like cooking and gardening programs provided students with life skills and a sense of connection. These activities, supported by dedicated staff and the community, created a positive and supportive environment for everyone. SPORTING OPPORTUNITIES Sports achievements were a standout this year, with students representing the school at Small Schools events and advancing to PSSA and Riverina levels in athletics, swimming, soccer, and cross-country. Snow skiing added another exciting opportunity for our students to shine. STEM Technology played a big role in learning, with programs like the Virtual STEM Academy, Makers Empire, Lego Championships and stop-motion filming kits. Students also explored creative possibilities using the 3D printer, fostering skills essential for the future. CONNECTING WITH COMMUNITY The school's creative talents were on display at events like the Leeton Museum and Art Gallery exhibition, KROP performances, the Leeton Eisteddfod, the Leeton Show, and the Easter Parade. These events strengthened our bond with the community and showcased the amazing work of our students. FAREWELL AND THANKS As we reflect on 2024, it's clear that it has been a truly remarkable year, filled with learning, growth, and achievements across so many areas. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our students, the hard work of our teachers, and the incredible support of families and the broader school community.
