YANCO AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL PUBLIC EDUCATION WEEK 2025 IGNITE YOUR POTENTIAL X Y·A·HS Yanco Agricultural High School is a NSW Department of Education, fully residential co- educational high school, with a specific focus on agriculture. The school caters for students from all areas of NSW and beyond in a caring, boarding school environment, with a specific focus on providing an agriculture-based education for isolated students. The school is located on a 280 hectare site which includes 180 hectares of intensive irrigation and dry land agriculture, as well as 60 hectares of natural bushland bordered by the Murrumbidgee River. All students who attend Yanco Agricultural High School have the opportunity to participate in a variety of vocational, sporting and wellbeing programs outside of school hours, along with a rigorous academic program. Students also are able to work as an integral part of the school's sheep and cattle studs and showstock teams .Academic achievement at Yanco is also strong with NAPLAN results being above statistically similar schools in both reading and numeracy and students consistently achieving top band success across a variety of HSC courses. The significant highlight of the 2024 school year was most certainly the opening of the new 'Worley' female dormitory. The building has space for 86 female students, which includes both shared and single rooms, as well as two staff residences. The two tastefully decorated and spacious common rooms on each floor, as well as the beautiful bathroom and laundry facilities, make this truly an exceptional place to live. Pleasingly, all male dormitories have also been refurbished in 2024. The other female dormitory 'Mason' has also had some refurbishments, and two new bathrooms will also be installed in this space this year. The works completed in our boarding school will assist students to truly feel at home as a Yanco student. Yanco Principal, Marni Milne said 'On a personal level, lifelong friendships and memories are still made at this school. Every year a new group of Old Yanconians graduate but each and every one of them will always be part of the Yanco family, just as all of our new students will be'.
