About
The Leeton Community Christmas Lunch Committee had their first Christmas Party on December 17th 2010 at St Peters Hall Leeton and was attended by around 80 people.
This is a non denominational event, with a 2 course Christmas lunch mainly for people who don't have family or friends in Leeton and who would like to share a lunch time feast with other people...... just making sure that no one spends the day alone.
We raise money throughout the year not only for the lunch and little gifts that we hand out each year at the lunch, but we also buy gifts or items for residents at the local nursing homes....these can include things like outings for the residents, gifts if they don’t have anyone to buy for the them, music DVD’s, CD’s or games for their common rooms.
In the last few years we have also worked with other charity groups or organisations that are involved with local families or kids in need to also provide gifts for them as well.
The Golden Apple put up a Christmas tree at the supermarket and locals are very generous and take gifts to be distributed to the above organisations, they are also so generous in donating hams and other items for our Christmas lunch.
The Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney always provide a weekend package as a prize for our event and that is always organised by former local, Mal Ward. We in turn send gifts to the children’s hospitals in Sydney where Mals son John spent a lot of time before he passed away. We send the gifts to the Forever Johnno charity and the gifts are taken up to Sydney, for free, by local transport company, Prestons Transport.
