Helen Dalton MP INDEPENDENT MEMBER FOR MURRAY R NSW Rural Australians are about to lose another piece of what little equity we have left. From 1 July 2026, WIN Network will dump all Network 10 programming across the Murray electorate, including Griffith, along with the Riverland and Mt Gambier. Channel 10, 10 Drama, 10 Comedy and Nickelodeon will disappear from free-to-air television overnight. This is the second time in two years. In July 2025, WIN tried the same trick with Channel 7. Now Network 10 is on the chopping block. The pattern is clear. When commercial pressure builds, regional viewers are the first to be cut loose. We are told streaming is the alternative. Tell that to the elderly pensioner in Hay whose internet drops out every second storm. Tell it to the farming family outside Deniliquin paying through the nose for a connection that crawls. Tell it to the small townships where mobile coverage runs out before the next paddock does. Free-to-air television is not entertainment. It is emergency infrastructure. When the bushfires come, when the floods rise, when severe weather closes the highways, the local TV broadcast is often the most reliable source of warning we have. I have written to WIN CEO Andrew Lancaster requesting an urgent meeting. I have written to Federal Communications Minister Anika Wells asking her to intervene. I am working with Senator Deborah O'Neill and Senator Bridget McKenzie. Regional Australia is not a second class market. We will not be treated like second class citizens. Helen Dalton MP for Murray Authorised by Helen Dalton MP, Funded using Parliamentary Entitlements.
